How to fix Sparse or Overplucked Brows

What causes sparse or overplucked brows?

It’s not all down to overplucking, as not everyone is born with naturally thick, bushy brows. Sadly, sparse brows can be due to scars, hair thinning, ageing or just a lack of hair growth, causing brows to look patchy and sparse.

This also encompasses hair loss due to skin conditions, infection, changes in hormones, thyroid problems, an overactive immune system, nutritional deficiencies, stress or physical trauma.

So, what do sparse brows look like?

Sparse eyebrows often resemble narrow lines, due to years of overplucking to achieve the thin brow that was on-trend in the nineties. Stars such as Pamela Anderson relied heavily on eyebrow pencil to give the illusion of any hair being there at all.

There’s no quick fix to take your eyebrows from sparse to stunning; it requires a consistent regrowth programme combined with some skilful filling in until your eyebrows have grown out to your satisfaction. However, you can absolutely achieve your brow goals with a little patience.

The next step is to say goodbye to the tweezers. As areas begin to regrow, your brows may look unruly or uneven, but you must resist the urge to pluck. Ban the tweezers for at least 8 weeks, until your brows have grown out fully, as a single hair could make or break the shape you’re working towards. Use a stimulating serum to encourage brows to grow, and make sure your diet includes all the nutrients your brow body needs.
