With so much information at out finger tips, we can be fed a lot of facts.. and also a lot of inaccurate facts.

Here are some common nail myths debunked.
Myth 1: Nails Need to Breathe
This is a common one with clients believing they need to take a break from nail polish or enhancements to let them breathe and keep them healthy.
The truth:
Nails are composed of non-living keratin and do not need to absorb air. Oxygen reaches your nails through the blood, not from the outside air. Covering nails with polish or extensions isn't harmful due to a lack of air. What is important is going to a qualified and competent nail technician who will apply products properly, use good and high-quality products, and have the gel/enhancements removed safely! Breaks from nail products are optional, but are definitely not required for nail health.
Myth 2: Gel and Acrylic Nails Damage Natural Nails
Some people avoid gel and acrylic services, fearing they will permanently weaken their nails.
The truth:
Gel or acrylic problems often stem from incorrect application or removal rather than the products. Peeling or pulling off products, or over-filing, can cause issues, but professional services and gentle techniques keep natural nails safe.
Myth 3: White Spots Signal Calcium Deficiency
White marks are often linked to a lack of calcium.
The truth:
Most white spots (leukonychia) are due to minor trauma. Calcium deficiency is not a common cause. A balanced diet is more helpful than worrying about such marks.
Myth 4: Nail Hardeners Always Make Nails Stronger
Nail hardener makes nails more durable.
The truth:
Ultimately, store-bought nail hardeners are glorified clear polish. While the additional layer may add some strength, it's very minor. Some can make nails overly stiff and prone to cracks. Flexible, hydrated nails are healthier. Focus on regular moisture and gentle protection instead of overusing hardeners.
Myth 5: Nail Growth Can Be Boosted With Products
Many hope to find products that speed up nail growth.
The truth:
Nail growth depends mostly on genetics and health. While products can’t accelerate growth, supporting your nails with hydration and a good diet helps them stay in prime condition.
